Privacy policy
Which personal data Best Glasgow handles and why, who helps us, how long data is kept and the rights you have under the UK GDPR.
Who is responsible
The data controller for everything on this page is Best Glasgow (bestglasgow.uk). We work under UK data protection law, namely the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and you can put any question about your data to info@bestglasgow.uk.
What we collect, and why
Browsing: your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, kept so that the site stays secure and working. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in a safe site that works.
Messages: what you write and the address you write from, so that we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Business accounts: the email address used to sign in, the changes made to a listing and, for Pro or Top, billing records. Lawful bases: performing our contract with the business, and the legal duty to keep accounting records.
No advertising, no tracking cookies
No advertising or analytics cookies are used anywhere on Best Glasgow, and there are no adverts. Cloudflare counts visits without storing anything on your device. A single cookie keeps business owners signed in to their area. It is strictly necessary for that service, so the UK cookie rules (PECR) allow it without asking for consent, which is why you see no cookie banner.
Who helps us
Cloudflare hosts and protects the site, measures visits without cookies and carries our email, and its Turnstile check on our forms separates people from bots. Stripe processes payments for business plans and keeps card details on its own systems, where we never see them. Part of this happens in the United States, under safeguards that UK law accepts for sending data abroad.
How long we keep it
Visit logs are held for a short time, for security. Emails are kept until the matter is settled. A business account lasts until it is closed. Billing records are held for as long as tax record-keeping rules require.
Your rights
You may ask to see the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to limit or object to its use and, where it applies, to receive it in a portable format. Write to info@bestglasgow.uk and expect a reply within one month.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your data, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You are also entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection authority, at ico.org.uk.
Changes
Whenever our use of personal data changes, this page changes with it, and the version published here is the one in force.
