About Best Glasgow

Why Best Glasgow exists, what its Glasgow lists cover, which parts of the city and nearby towns they reach, and what we leave alone.

The roof of your close needs work, the property factor has asked for quotes and the owners meet on Thursday. Or the Home Report has flagged damp, or the wedding is in June and nobody has sorted the kilts. Best Glasgow exists for moments like these. Each job gets a short list of Glasgow firms that do that work as their trade, so you are not starting from scratch.

What the lists cover

Tradespeople for the home, from joiners and stonemasons to boiler engineers, electricians and damp specialists. Private health, from dentists, private GPs and scans to physiotherapists, opticians and counsellors. Aesthetic clinics, hair and beauty. Solicitors for conveyancing, family, employment and injury claims, property factors, letting agents and surveyors, along with accountants and mortgage brokers. Garages, MOT centres and driving instructors. Tutors, music teachers and classes of every sort. Wedding venues, kilt hire, ceilidh bands and caterers. Vets, groomers and dog trainers. More lists go online as each one is finished.

Glasgow and the towns beside it

These lists are meant for anyone who lives, works or is buying a home in the city, from the West End around Byres Road and Hillhead to Finnieston, the Merchant City, Dennistoun, Shawlands, Pollokshields and Govanhill, and in the towns just over the boundary, such as Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Giffnock, Bearsden and Milngavie. Places further out, East Kilbride and Clydebank among them, are not covered. Every entry shows an address, which makes the journey easy to judge, whether you go by Subway, by train from Central or Queen Street, by bus or by car.

What we don’t do

Best Glasgow is not a trade, a clinic or a law firm, so it cannot give medical, legal, financial or building advice. It books nothing, collects no quotes and takes no money from readers, and it does not inspect anyone’s work. Whatever you agree stays between you and the business.

Where the money comes from

No adverts run on the site, readers pay nothing and nobody can buy a place on a list. Businesses already chosen can pay for Pro, which gives them a fuller page with contact details, a gallery, prices and offers, or for Top, one of three highlighted places at the head of a list they already belong to. Every plan is labelled, and everyone else stays where we put them. Corrections and suggestions go to info@bestglasgow.uk.
